blackbird babies

PLease help, I have a nest of Blackbirds on top of a secutiry light in the garden. The parent birds have raised 3 chicks and have been feeding happily. The house next door has a nest of starlings, and during the early hours of this am, I think they have attacked the blackbird nest as we have found all three chicks on the floor. we could not save 2 of them, but the third one was stile alive and asking for food. We have put it back in the nest where we could hear it calling, but I am so worried that the parent birds after finding the other chicks missing will think the nest empty and fly away. Please could someone advise me what if anything I can do.

  • Thank you Birdlady1 I think the problem may have resolved it'self as the mothr bird has gone to the nest with grubs, the chicj is still cheeping, so hopefully all will be well

  • I find this time of year stressful with all the baby birds emerging! Tonight when walking the dogs I saw a young blackbird fluffed up at the side of the road looking very anxious. Last year on the same road I walked past one keeping well away so as not to frighten it and on the way back there it was squashed in the road! But I understand that you shouldnt pick them up and move them because the parents should be nearby?
