I stayed on the 21st to 24th April at Marton Grange guest house near Sewerby in Yorkshire and saw originally a pair of Fieldfares and later 5 fieldfares. Are they breeding here or are they just late in migrating? Also I saw over 100 what appeared to be linnets in a flock on the coast line near to RSPB Bempton cliffs. Do linnets flock in such large numbers at this time of year?
Hi,
Fieldfares breed in small numbers in Scotland, migrant birds are still heading north atm. Odd birds go through even in early May some years.
Linnets are also passage birds here as well as breeding so a flock is possible.
