Hi Coal
Most of mine are from Jacobi Jayne
Seed feeders; Peanut feeders; Niger seed feeders; Blu Glass dish; Mealworm/Suet cake Guardian; Ground feeders; Half Coconut suet feeders, RSPB Suet cake feeder, Tub cake feeder
All of the finches eat either Niger or Sunflower seed from hanging feeders. The tits eat sunflower mixture and peanuts.
I put Sun Drops in the Blue Glass dish and the tits or the Nuthatches take those. I also put live mealworms in the Guardian and the tits and the Nuthatches take those as well.
Starlings and others have to make do with a ground type feeder on the fence, and a larger one on the ground or the suet type food.
Best wishes Chris

Hi Coal,
I have 2 x 6 port sunflower heart feeders for the finches, plus a 20 port flocker and a small 4 port, both for nyjer seed, also for the finches.
I have a sparrows corner with a mesh tray mounted on the fence, one 4 port hanger, both with my own mix of seed, plus a tub-cake holder and tub-cake (suet mix). Sparrows, dunnocks, starlings, robins, coal tits, chaffinches.
I have a tall bird table with a mix of suet pellets, raisins and my seed mix, and a fat ball holder. Pigeons, jackdaws, starlings.
I have another fence-mounted mesh tray next to a caged hanger (rarely used) both containing my seed mix, and a hanger with peanut granules in, and a fat cake in a holder. Sparrows, starligs, blue tits, coal tits, blackbirds sometimes.
I have a guardian feeder with mealworms in, but nothing uses it.
I also have a ground feeder on the front lawn with suet pellets, raisins and a few nut granules. Used by all sorts, mainly blackbirds, starlings, jackdaws, coal tits.
I also scatter soaked mealworms in the flower pots, wall baskets and on the ground. They all eat these.
Cheers, Linda.

Hi coal,
I chop and change things about, but in general this is my list
God that sounds a lot when all typed out. I have changed my mixed seed to no grow variety and sparrows are not happy and are now eating off the ground!!!!
My reason for this was the crop of barley i now have in my border!

I've learned that I still have a lot to learn...

I have two sunflower heart feeders which attract:
- greenfinches
- robins
- goldfinches
- chaffinches
- bullfinches
- blue tits
- sparrows
Before I had these I had a peanut feeder which was visited by:
- starlings
- coal tits
- long-tailed tits
- most of these now prefer the sunflower hearts and ignored the peanuts so I replaced the peanuts with RSPB buggy nibbles - only ever seen starlings eating these. Also have only ever seen starlings on the suet ball feeder.
Finally, I have a ground feeder which is used by:
- blackbirds
- woodpigeons
- collared doves
One thing I don't have is a bird table - am I missing out on any species by not having one? Any ideas?
Hi Somethingforadreamer.
Although I like my birdtable. There is nothing that uses it that does not feed elsewhere. My main reason for getting it was to keep bramble away from scraps as these she feels belong to her not the birds.
Find that Sparrow,Collared Dove both prefer feeding from table also strangely Robin,Blackbird and Chaffinch all spend what I find surprising amount of time on ours as it only has no mess mixture on it which is just a mixture of small seeds,no mealworm in it.
I like my bird table. It is a tall one - over 6 foot off the ground. There is a rustic bench at the side that I stand on to see to it. It keeps the jackdaws and pigeons away from the other feeders most of the time, and also if a flock of ASBO starlings arrives (as opposed to my regular all day ones) they use it. One or two small birds venture on it, robin and sparrow, but not often.
