Kezmo this one is especially for you. There are about five of these that come into my mums garden and I thought they were just feral pigeons, but on looking at my BTO book could they be Stock Doves?
They are slightly smaller than the Wood pigeons and do not have the red eyes of the feral pigeons I get at home.
I've learned that I still have a lot to learn...

They began life as Rock Pigeons, domesticated and kept for the table and as racing pigeons. They escaped occasionally and these interbred with escaped domestic doves. So a totally hybrid breed, and the ones in my area are hugely varied in markings.
Cheers, Linda.

Thanks Sooty,
Awww poor things, I feel sorry for them now.
There is a sufficiency in the world for man's need but not for man's greed.
Hi Sparrow,
I don't get any Ferals out here, it's all Woodpigeons, in the field next door to me there a massive flock of them absolutely huge, I only get a few coming to the garden to feed, I keep wondering how long will it be before they all cotton on to the fact they can get grub here, the few that do feed here must be keeping it to themselves for now. I HOPE THEY DON'T TELL THE REST OF THEM !!!.
No woodpigeons at all here - all ferals. I quite like them. Some of them have beautiful colourings and they are very useful as they clear up all the left over seed from the table and trays late in the evening and early morning, so when I fill them up in a morning they are empty and I can start afresh.
Hello all!
Sorry guys, I've been playing with Photoshop which I have just bought and been busy airbrushing all the photos I had of me!!!! It's so great, I now look 20 years younger and am blonde!!!!
Now to the subject at hand.............well as you know feral pigeons are my forte, and I would have to say that these photos are without doubt whatsoever Stock Doves. Believe it or not I get these too - they are stockier (stock...stockier....sorry!) than the feral pigeons more compact, recognisable by the uniform colouring barring the green tinge on the back of the neck and black thingies on the wings!
Okay shoot me down Buzzard, Seymouraves, mickycoop et al.........................."oh please let me be right"
Regards
Kerry

Stock Doves get my vote.
If I send you some pics of me, can you make me look like Marilyn Monroe in her hey day?
Me too, Stock Doves.
Just because they have such pretty faces
Of course I will Sparrow - you will tho need to bear with me as my efforts on photos of my OH have made him resemble Les Dawson!!

LOL !!! Kezmo,
Does that mean Sparrow would end up more Marilyn Manson than Marilyn Monroe.
