Is this normal behaviour? This particular goldfinch won't allow any other bird onto the feeder while he is there. He started by just telling the other gold fiches off, but now he is on at the siskins too.
I've learned that I still have a lot to learn...

Alas I can't answer your question, however, if you had asked me about feral pigeons I could have told you loads!

Ok, I shall bear that in mind for next time
Sarah
I always thought that siskins were one of the few birds who could clear the feeders of all the other birds. Great to see your goldfinch standing up to them.
Hi Sarah,Seems quite normal behaviour to me. I often see one refusing to move and even having a small ruck with anyone who tries to shift him.
Of all creatures, man is the most detestable, he is the only creature that inflicts pain for sport, knowing it to be pain. ~ Mark Twain
Mine squabble amongst themselves over a particular feeder, but once the looser has moved to an adjacent feeder, all quietens down. I've never seen them have a go at another bird. Siskins are very tiny.
Cheers, Linda.

If its no fun Yer no doin it right!
Hi Sparrow, in our last house the siskin used to arrive in such large numbers, as they flew through, they would just take over the feeders and nothing else stood a chance.
Little bullies! My female siskin looks like a little dot when she arrives on the top of the pole. Blow and she'd fall off!!!
Hi Bramble
I think it is fairly normal. I have a male goldfinch visitor who will only let his mate eat with him on the nyger seed feeder.
Best wishes Chris
