Nuthatch photos: Please would you vote for the one that you prefer?

Hi all

Please can you settle a slight difference of opinion between my OH and me by voting whether you prefer photo no 1 or photo no 2.

The first pic was taken when it was cloudy and the background is blurred: Photo 1

and the second one was taken after the sun came out so the background is sharper: Photo 2

Please can I have votes of preference for either photo 1 or photo 2.

Thanks guys. I'm not going to say at this stage which one I prefer ;-)

Best wishes Chris

  • Hi Chris,

There don't appear to be any differences of opinion! I'm sorry if you think I was in any way criticising anyone. I certainly didn't intend to. Your nuthatch pictures are all excellent, and all worthy of going on your Flickr page.

I like the tongue in the third picture by the way!

    Cheers, Linda.

just to let you know I don't use Photoshop on 99.9% of the photo's I have taken. I try to capture the shot using the abilities of the camera by making sure the settings are correct!

    Hi Buzzard

My apologies, but I didn't mean that you always adjust your photos. I meant that I know that you are trialling a free copy of Photoshop as opposed to the PSP software that I use, so I know it is different.

I never intended to suggest that you use Photoshop on all of your photos. :-)

    Hi Chris,

    no need for apologies!

I just wanted to clarify that the photo's I have taken haven't been enhanced and my main objective is to learn to take a good photo without using software to enhance it or totally change its appearance!

Although I have posted a couple of photo's using Photoshop to show what the results are using that software on a couple of threads!

I'm old school and all of this computer technology and program software wasn't available and I'm totally new to the digital photography age!

    My Regards Buzzard

    Hi Sparrow

Sorry It might be the way I type it. I only meant the differences of opinion between the preference of photos. I must admit that I thought most people would prefer picture 1.

I definitely never thought that you were in any way criticising anyone.

I'm still not sure about that tongue.....

  • I like photo 1 best, especially after JudiM's slight adjustment.

I too try to make the photos good enough to stand on on their own but I do adjust the brightness sometimes and also crop when necessary.  I currently use MS Office Picture Manager or Google Picasa but I am considering purchasing Photoshop Elements so it was interesting to see the results that can be achieved.  If you play about too much with a photo then you are more in the realms of art rather than a simple image of a bird so I would use it with care.

I look forward to seeing your nuthatch on Flickr.  I think I might just have submitted them both!
