A lighter question that I have wondered about, and all theories included of course.
Many woodpeckers use wood to get their communication to other territorial Woodpeckers in the same area
What is it that makes Woodpeckers different so they cope with all the head-banging activity.

as far as I know- they have a toughened skull- and their brain is cushioned so it does not move inside the skull and cause a concussion :)
