Blue Tit behaviour

Wondering if anyone can shed a little light for me. Have a pair of Blue Tits that regularly visit the garden several times a day; They feed for a minute or two then disappear, quite normal, but over the last week they are permanently in my garden chasing each other around, swinging on my trellis and any other plant they can get at.It's quite comical to watch and was wondering why they behave in this manner. I only have a small garden and wondered if it was unusual for themto spend so much time in it.  They both fly up to my window then fly away and repeat this mant times flicking their tails and twitching their wings. Would be interested if anyone has any ideas. Cheers.

    Hello Lyn

Interesting information about your Blue Tits

Wonder if it is a cute bit of Blue Tit flirting, or two of the same sex thing to drive each other out of your garden

They do not see the refection of themselves at your window by chance, and see it as a threat at all?

Hmm others will be along with their thoughts too

    Regards

    Kathy and Dave

  • Thanks for your reply Kath. I did wonder myself if it was a wee bit of flirting as the pair are a male and female and they stick to each other like glue; where one ges the other follows lol almost like they are mirroring each others behaviour. I do have two nestboxes in the garden and I saw a Blue Tit go into it a few months ago but not of late. It's so funny watching them constantly flying up and down the garden.tThey almost remind me of a couple of teenagers out on the town.

  • I also have a pair of bluetits acting in exactly the same manner.  It is lovely to watch them like yours, mine generally grab the food and go.

I've learned that I still have a lot to learn...

Nice to see you posting again. :-)

I have saeen this behaviour too. It's quite amusing to watch. I even saw it in a wooded copse while out on my little walk.
