Hi,
according to BB this month - 2009 was the best nesting season for a long time , especially after 07 and 08 were so bad. Apparently Long Tailed Tits did exceptionally well- could account for all the sightings this winter

Hi Seymour
Love to hear happy news about the Long Tailed Tits numbers
Made me smile as LTT's and they are just little pink fluffy cuties.
Regards
Kathy and Dave
Have finally spotted some of these near me, but no sign in my garden, I am still, however considering the hansel and gretel approach with some suet pellets!
Sarah
I've learned that I still have a lot to learn...

Good news about their numbers, long may it continue :o)
Sarah, we get them on the walkway but they never venture into the garden!
To me they seem such happy little birds, I could watch them for hours.
I like LTTs too so that's excellent news.
There is something new to learn everyday...

As you say Seymouraves, there are more of them around this year. I have seen them in our garden and have watched a pair frequently fluttering around each other in the air (courtship I presume), which I haven't noticed before. Great news about the numbers.
We've also seen more of these little acrobats than before in the garden.
And if the evidence of this troupe from our visit last week to Stonelees at Pegwell Bay is anything to go by it looks like they are planning for 2010 to be another good one!
Is this what they mean by having your head screwed on right?Like to think that grass will be woven into their snug little nest!
My neck felt like the LTT in the 3rd pic after getting this bunch of snaps - they were so quick and elusive but were also very close and quite unconcerned about us.
Hi Fittmonk
Have your posted pictures of your Long Tailed Tits
Just wondering at the moment?
I see you pictures now - whoppeee!!
What fabulous shots of the LTT's
Yes, they are flexible, and can sit any angle on a branch feeding in Tit style
I think all the parts so their bodies can move around 360 degrees to each other
Thank you for sharing with us

Sorry Fittmonk, I was looking forward to your pictures, but sorry I have the usual problem. Just little red crosses.
Ditto, Brenda!
The necessity of bird-watching is a really good reason for avoiding all forms of housework.
The dust will still be there tomorrow - the birds may not be!
