Hi Everyone,
Can anyone help to identify this bird? It comes most days usually with the chaffinches but is mostly white. I can't find any pics similar to find out what it is. It always uses the seed feeder and not the peanut one.
Thanks Cheryl
You have no control over what life & people throw at you - but you have full control over how you deal with it!
That is very unusual. I don't know what it is so am no help. Is it the same size as the chaffies, could it be a sort of half albino one? I know you get blackbirds that can have quite a lot of white on them.
Sure someone will know, they are a knowledgeable lot on here, learn something new every day! Good Luck
Sarah
I've learned that I still have a lot to learn...

Could be a young pied wagtail but I am sure someone will know for definate

Can't see the photo, but if it looks like a mainly white chaffinch, it could be a leucistic one.
This happens with many species.

Thanks everyone for replying. It is the same size as the chaffinches but is very unusual and beautiful. When I have looked on other sites the word leucistic deos keep coming up so it might be that. I took the pic from a long way away and I don't have a brilliant camera so it is not very clear - sorry.
Why is it that some people can see the photo and not others - I am new to this site (only joined a few days ago) so haven't had time to get to know its foibles!

The site is having terrible problems with disappearing pictures at the moment, but word is they are working on it. I can still see it
Hi and welcome to the site if I haven't said that already. There have been lots of problems with pictures disappearing from forums and galleries. if you look at posts under tech problems you will see what I mean. The original reason given was the garden Birdwatch causing an increase in users (i was one of them) Then it was not a big enough server to cope and the latest I believe is 2 servers and it depends which one you get when you log in as to whether you can see the pics or not. They do come an d go and apparently we need to be patient!!!
The forums are such a good source of information and so friendly that it's still worth the hassle at the moment
Hi Chez. Your bird looks very much to me like a leucistic female chaffinch.
Hi Brambles and Birdwatcher, That seems to answer my question - thanks. I have had loads of trouble trying to put piccies on (one of my badger eating with a hedgehog was one on another forum) I thought it was me 'cos I am not brilliant at that kind of thing. I will try to get a pic of the wren that eats from my hand soon, just that she is so quick and my camera has a 1 or 2 second delay so it can be difficult. Do you know if you can put short videos on this site?
Sorry to always be asking questions but you do seem to be a very knowledgeable lot. lol
Thanks again
Cheryl

See that's what I meant, but have never heard that word before so hence the half albino attempt. Told you they know their stuff. Every day's a school day!
Thanks AnnaBanana She is a lovely little thing I think you might be right as she is always with the other chaffinches. Just I haven't seen anything like her before - You live and learn!!
