A friend of mind said she was convinced she saw a Snowy Owl on the outskirts of Milton Keynes, Bucks. She said it was a large white owl, much bigger than a Barn Owl. Does anyone know whether we have Snowy Owls, because I've certainly never seen one and thought they were only sighted in the Shetlands?
In the late 1960*s to the early 1970”# there was a pair of Snowy that did breed/nest for a 6 year period on Fetlar in the Shetlands. There have been off and on reports or rumours since that period as I mentioned that possibly there may have other attempts since that 6 year period and alsso they have also in the before the 1960’s they may have have bred/on some of the remote Islands in the Shetlands/Orkneys without belong detected..
