I've just been a walk along the canal and saw a man (or boy) tormenting a swan with a remote-controlled boat in the marina.
To be honest the Swan didn't seem too bothered. It's used to people as the marina has a coffee shop and people feed them. I still think this was 'not on' though!!
Should I report it? I got a photo as evidence, although from quite a distance. (Swan on left of pic, boat about an inch to its right and man on the white boat on the far right)
Thanks
Pipit
Hi Pipit
I think that having a word with the owners of the marina is probably the best bet.
I'm not sure what action the RSPCA could take, but if you get nowhere with the marina, it won't do any harm to ask them. :-)
Best wishes Chris

Thanks Chris
I did just that, I'm going to go back to the marina in a day or so and ask if anything was done, or said.
Thanks for your concern
Wouldn't it be great if the swan attacked the little boat and sank it!!
It's not always easy to hug a hedgehog.
But that doesn't mean you shouldn't.
Tee hee, that would have been good and served the silly person right!!!!

Good on you for doing something about this, Pip. People can be such gits!

LOL, that would be the best thing ever to happen! Or if the mute swan broke the man's arm, just like people say. But it's a fact that swans can't really break peoples arms.....
'Dip a dee dah, dip a dee ay, we're not seeing any birds to-day...'
Ooo we are cross!!! I'll tell the Swan when I next see him/her how much support he has!!!
Hi Chris
Good idea having a word with the owners of the marina - maybe they are blind to the fact as some people are when it come to wildlife.
The RSPCA would be a great place to contact and tell them the situation as it is and how it happens

Kathy and Dave

Hi Aiki
I so agree with you!
Pip :)
You could throw stones at the toy boat until either it sinks (legitimate use of force in protection of a protected species) or the owner retrieves it... just a thought :-)
