Don't know how many of you have seen this, but I literally could not believe this!! How ridiculous! I can't believe he actually kicked it out the way after already hitting it with the ball!! ...the owl was taken to an animal hospital but sadly died :( And now this guy is complining that he's been recieving death threats! Did he really think he could do that and people wouldn't be angry??

Hi, this happened in the country where I live - Colombia - and the whole country is up in arms. It made front page news and was all over the local TV news as well. It's very very possible that somebody will kill this footballer because over here you can hire a sicario (hitman) for about 10 quid and they'll gladly do the hit.
I feel really sad about the poor barn owl. The local news said he was fined 320 pounds and given a 2 match ban - we're waiting to see if the local government will prosecute, if so he'll be put in jail for a minimum of 3 months.
This guy will be terrified and rightly so.

Just as an addendum to this story, I read this in the newspaper yesterday:
'Just weeks after South American footballer Luis Moreno kicked an owl toward an early grave, another beaky intruder has fallen foul of the beautiful game. This time a southern lapwing was accidentally caught under a boot during a Brazilian league match. "It looked like it was getting better.....but it died." said a Gremio spokesman'
I hope this is not turning into a trend.
