I read about Terry Pratchett putting up the £10,000 reward yesterday bless him (corporal carrot is on the case).

The reward at the last count stands at £26,000 lets hope that brings a result and with a punishment that makes others think twice about going out to slaughter wildlife just because they feel like it at the time.

On a diff, but slightly related note, I hope you don't mind.

I used to get v upset when I was 9/10 + the farmer who's farm we lived on had 40-50 wintering bewick / whooper swans 'die' on his fields. The reason the swans were 'disliked was that in the nos they puddled the crops that were just coming through.

Hope that the police catch + convict the person responsible for this horrific act. More of these acts should have a tougher sentences, that would make folk think before they do these horendous things.

It is amazing that this lunatic can carry on doing this terrible criminal act without being caught.

I would have thought that they could have had wildlife rangers watching the place. I bet there would be no shortage of local volunteers to watch the swans, and 'look after' the nutter who is killing them.

definitely promising that one name seems to keep cropping up from people phoning in about it. There can't be many people in the area that are amazing with a gun!

Another bit of good news that one of the swans shot has almost recovered from her ordeal...the only swan to survive...and that she is being taken off to a lake where there is a solitary male waiting patiently for her! Every cloud has a silver lining, even if the cloud is as dark as this one...
