The RSPB are gathering the vote's for this years Nature of Farming Award to find the farmer. Tell us who you think should win – in return you could win a luxury stay at Luton Hoo Hotel, Golf and Spa. Our four finalists have worked incredibly hard to provide space for wildlife on their farms, so give them your support by casting your vote. It doesn’t take long and you’ll be supporting the vital work that these farmers, and others like them, are doing across the UK to ensure our farm wildlife has a place to call home. Without them, our countryside would be a poorer place.

I've voted too (although I'm not telling who for though!)
I have a great farm near me - there's a byway that bisects it and there's always loads of yellowhammers and skylarks that keep me company when I ride my horse down that way. Lots of fieldfare last winter too!
There's nothing quite like the sound of birdsong on a spring morning and I for one am incredibly glad that there are farmers out there who are making sure we continue to be able to enjoy it.
So I hope everyone else on here will vote too!

YellowWag - sounds like you have a great farm near you. Just out of curiousity, do you see any yellow wagtails in your area? These birds have suffered huge declines in the UK
The farms I pass on my way to work are good for wintering lapwings and golden plovers. Flocks start to gather in September and October. Hares appear to be on the increase as well on these farms although this may just be I am noticing more.
Ooh, you are lucky. I see lapwing sometimes on my way into work too which is a bit of a treat! The odd hare here and there too, but sadly no yellow wagtails that I'm aware of!
Well as a retired farmer think I should say a big thank you to all of you who voted and appreciate what these farmers are doing.Quite often people criticise farmers unfairly sometimes even the RSPB saying about intensive farming whereas farming has been getting more intensive for centuries or lots more people in the world would starve.Thank you all because by supporting farmers in their efforts we will all benefit especially farmland birds than by constant criticism.
