A cam I've 'monitored' for about 10 years in Orange County, southern California, on an Audubon Ranch.
This is a cavity formed when a limb fell out of an elderly eucalyptus tree, Barn Owls have been breeding in it for longer than I've been watching, the owlet in the video is one of 5 recently fledged.
Once those bees make up their minds... they're quick!
IMAGICAT
Day1 and Day15
There's a fifth honeycomb on the left but only a tiny bit of it is allowed to show - very occasionally - thru the blanket of bees, so far.
A lot of the time it looks like this !!!
For a short while the outside cam, the "limb cam", was revived - this is the second time during that time that an owl has tried to enter the cavity:
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
