Hawfinch on my lawn, never have I seen this species in my garden or around the Llyn Peninsula. I live in Nefyn, Gwynedd. Date was 1st May 2022

Lovely photo Shirley, and a hello and welcome from the currently cloudy (it seems to be permanently cloudy these days) and damp West Midlands.

I'm a regular visitor to N Wales, with family not far from Conwy, so know the area reasonably well, though i have to confess, its been a bit too long since I was on the Llyn Peninsula.

That's a fabulous bird to get in your garden. Congratulations as they are pretty scarce and hard to see.

That's a great garden spot and a nice photo. We get Hawfinch in winter at nearby Fountains Abbey but even after making regular visits early this year we never managed to see them

Thank you for the replies, pure chance in standing up and looking out of the window, and most of the biggest chance was having the camera ready for once. My thoughts were don't panic go slow and get that shot or any shot. I did. It was there for about 15 minutes, I never saw it again but I live in hope..
