As with the 2020 season, barn owls did not use the box for breeding in 2021, will this year be different?

In answer to that question, yes!
9 eggs laid: Incubation period is 30-31 days
Hatches:
1st chick - 21.5.21 2nd chick - 23.5.22 3rd chick - 24.5.22 4th chick - 26.5.22 5th chick - 29.5.22 6th chick - 2.6.22 7th chick - ??? 8th chick - 5.6.22
Morning both.
Mum feeding two different cache.,and lesg again causing difficulty for little ones to swallow.
Morning Kate, She was breaking off large pieces to the older chicks last night during the feed that I witnessed. I could only see 2 eggs at any one time - the marked one (which I think is the very first egg) and another.
Some very interesting activity there.
I note on an early posting, there was a comment about the first egg suggesting it may not be productive.

Afternoon Mike, In my opinion, I think the very first egg that she laid and not incubated for a couple of weeks initially, is the one that appears to be very marked. Only time will tell though. There are reports on chat stating that the male did a number of prey deliveries and the tiny being fed too, good news. :)

Afternoon Sandra.
Many thanks for the reply and update. All fascinating stuff, no matter how it evolves and turns out in the end, that is nature.
Yes it does. You're very welcome, Mike
