FalconCam Project, Orange, NSW - Peregrines 2017

A very happy New Year to the lovely peregrines as well as Cilla and Scott!  Diamond is on the ledge:

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • Another feed per Xavier - uncut!  Only one chick appeared to get fed until the very end, when the other might have got a bite.

  • A much more positive update from the excellent Cilla:

  • The day's videos - such as they are, having been scraped up from the few "up" times we've had.

    2m

This was when the large feathers were first seen - as predicted on FCP, no arrival captured :(

    Was it a Rosella?

The chicks seem to be cowering from the flying feathers ;)

    Job done:

Look what a fine mess you've left us in!

This mucky-beaked prey-drop in the evening was frozen between 2 blackages, so I've no idea if it was accepted or not :(

    Oh yes it was!

These snaps are out of order.

    Attention to detail:

    Diamond took prey from Xavier:

    1m11s

  • Snaps from this rainy Oz morning.  Very little uptime, no prey or feeds seen.

    Nest 51s

Ledge 56s (some 'framing' errors in here but I couldn't go back and start again)

  • Another update from Cilla:

A well-earned credit in there for you, Scylla!

  • Thanks, Clare :)

Lots of missing bits here, but it includes a visit (no departure), prey-drop, half-hour feed and tidy-up.  Only Marragaay seen eating but Bali looks satisfied at the end.

    4m26s

    Recognise the prey item, anyone?

  • 1500hr prey:

They ate but weren't that hungry, don't know if Diamond finished it off:

    1900hr prey:

I think this was Bali getting fed, Marragaay was sated:

    Dear Diamond :)

She did end up almost force-feeding Bali:

    56s

  • Lots of long blackages overnight, as to be expected.

The ledge cam came up @ 0613:

Nest cam 0619, showing the chicks being checked on, this is the return to ledge, to show face:

    Another little wander:

    Prey-drop, only a snack:

  • There was virtually no activity captured on the nest cam this (Oz) morning besides the huddle in the corner.

This was the first sign of awakeness - gone 2 o'clock in the afternoon !!!

Later each eyas "performed", Marragaay (phew! remembered the name) with a feather and Bali with a walk.  (I must have taken 20 freezes out of Marragaay's feather activity, it took blooming ages.)

    2m18s

    See the pin feathers!

    Can  you see Bali's tail-end?

    .

Ledge views, 2 prey-drops and some ins 'n outs:

    1m52s

EDIT - the first snap is a dupe from my post last night, sorry.

Xav followed Di in but swerved away:

There's been a feed since, am about to fetch it up, hopefully :)

  • The excellent Cilla managed another update:
