*** 2017 *** Happy New Year !!!
Welcome to our little group following the Cornish Barn Owls, hoping for a successful season in 2017.
We have a couple (female ringed) getting to know each other, no mating yet (that we have seen).
There was a visit to the barn earlier, didn't stay long, floated out stage right:
Techie note for newbies:
The barn cam is still badgering a lot and while it's not the stream is still on-off-on-off - the intermittent sound being the telltale - and there's a huge, variable lag on it.
IMAGICAT
18:21 The male entered the box, desperate calling by the female but he's turned a deaf ear!
19:48 Male left the box followed by the female a minute later. She had a bit of a wing stretch at the pop hole
20:15 The female has been continuously making her rasping calls since leaving the box. Neither owls are on view.
20:21 One has shown its head behind the box
20:43 All quiet now
22:10 The female has been making her rasping calls for the past 30 minutes or so. Not on view in the barn.
22:14 At least one hiding behind the box
It went quiet after the last scap
7:53 Both have just arrived on the tray.
Both in the box 16;40 then both cams Badgered Grr!!!
Yes, grrr indeed Kate - it always tends to happen just before the weekend :(
Here are some scaps I took earlier
16:04 The female entered the box
16:20 Male joined her shortly before this time
16:39 Male preening
LS back 17:05
17:09 Female preening
18:03 After being badgered for a long while, I've just got the LS back. Both are still in the box.
18:09 - 18:19 A nice bit of self and mutual preening before the male left shortly followed by the female.
Just about to launch herself to the pop hole
18:42 The female flew past the cam and out of view, the male is still preening on the middle beam. He flew in the same direction at 18:43
19:07 Male on the back beam. Female flew into the barn to join him. Still both there at 19:14
19:20 Wherever the male goes...
...the female is sure to follow! :D

Hi Kate,

There wasn't anything much to report after they both went out. One did land on the front beam around 22:00 but was gone in a flash.
8:20 Female is in the box and he is on the tray.
Scaps taken between 8:23 - 8:33

Both now resting and all is quiet.
