I'm very happy to say that the stunning pair of ravens who built a nest on a fire escape at Wellesley College last year have returned for a second season! They are incubating three eggs.
Feast your eyes on this:
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Clare and all: If anyone wants to see a photo of the building where the ravens are nesting, you can look HERE. What a strange place for ravens to choose to nest!
Thanks for that, Diane. That location shows a staggering level of trust for such a notoriously shy bird.
The first chick has hatched! Woo Hoo!!!
Welcome to the world little one.

I think the baby is hiding to the right of the eggs:
Brilliant news C, can just about make out bobblehead!!

What is on the nest?
I can see some wriggling!
Back under cover:
I still haven't seen both parents at the same time.
Clare: I just saw both ravens at the same time! The male(?) brought the female(?) some food and fed her. He disappeared quickly, and I failed to get a screen capture. It's dawn here, and I haven't had my coffee, so I wasn't quick and functional enough. LOL
