I'm very happy to say that the stunning pair of ravens who built a nest on a fire escape at Wellesley College last year have returned for a second season! They are incubating three eggs.
Feast your eyes on this:
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Wow! They're all there:
Three strong chicks:
If there is a deformity with one of their beaks it must be minor as the chick is still being fed - and is still able to feed.
Dinner time!
She tries to be evenhanded in her feeding - she just ignored the open beak of a bigger chick and encouraged the smallest to open up! No wonder they're all thriving.
An early breakfast:
They are huge. Seems just yesterday taht they were unable to hold their lil gapes still enough to be fed - Now look! :) It's the eldest that has the problem with the tongue I just noticed, but as Clare says, it is not keeping it from eating and GROWING!

Nice to see you back, CC! It's getting lighter and both Pauline and Henry are about:
All three chicks are looking good:
And incredibly sweet:
Hi Clare! Pauline almost needs to stand on her toes to feed them now!
What a great job she is doing.
Awwww! The oldest chick is trying to flap its wings!
