The returns to Loch Garten are exciting but what has happened to tracking last year's chicks? There seem to have been no comments on Nethy for many weeks.

To sum it up:
Of the satellite-tagged LG chicks from 2009, Rothes is alive and well, and living on an island off the coast of Guinea-Bissau. She is not expected to return to Europe before 2011. The most recent news of her, is in this LG blog from earlier this week - keep an eye on future blogs, for mentions of her:

Her sister Mallachie made a successful outwards migration to the Gambia, but no signals have been received from her since last November - it's impossible to know whether this was down to a failure of the equipment, or something happening to the bird.
Nethy and Deshar were the 2008 chicks tracked by satellite. Nethy - similar story to Mallachie, but in mainland Guinea Bissau, this time last year. Deshar was lost over the Atlantic.
