Great Barrier Reef 15/1/2012 BBC2

If you've not managed to watch it so far....Australia’s great natural wonder is linked to the rest of the planet in so many ways. Creatures travel thousands of miles to visit in spectacular numbers, including tiger sharks, great whales, seabirds and the largest green turtle gathering on the planet. Also, creatures rarely seen, like nautilus, rise out of the deep to visit the reefs warm waters. But weather systems from across the pacific include cyclones that bring destruction and chaos to the coral and the creatures that live on it. It is weather patterns and climate change on a global scale that are likely to threaten the great barrier reef.

8pm, BBC2, this sunday.
