Hallo,
They've recently shown a programme about a 1977 documentary from The World About Us series on BBC Alba: "The Corncrake and the Croft: An-diugh (Today)" which dealt with crofting life in 3 villages on North Uist. The original film is shown in its entirety and it talks quite a bit about the island's birdlife with some nice footage to boot (shot by the RSPB film unit). You can find it on i-Player here.
