Hello everyone,
Well we are nearly there! With less than 4 days to go, who is excited about Springwatch? We here at the RSPB cannot wait, as this year it is coming from our beautiful reserve in Wales, Ynys-Hir. So why not check out the reserve homepage, Blog, and forum to chat about Springwatch with the RSPB. For the next 3 weeks we will be chatting about Red Kites, Herons, Little egrets and Pied flycatchers, to name but a few. So come and join in!

Hi Ian
I am glad to be be able to answer this thread after all the bother with my internet connection LOL
Yes, the Redstart family where a joy to see tonight. I loved every moment of seeing them with those quivering tails. I wonder if the remaining 4 youngsters will be on their way into the big wide world tomorrow. Hope that we see them tomorrow evening before they set off.
Loved the bounding Badger too - all fours in the air at one time.
Springwatch Unsprung was a joy to see once more with the usual banter. The guest Tawny Owl called throughout all of the show - so cute and a great bird to see close up.
So much to see tonight - loved it.
MarJus: Well done with your photos on the show - love to know more. It was interesting to hear about people close encounters with them. I always thought of them as very shy animals

Thank you very much Sparrow, Woodpecker and Blackbird! :-)
Here's the photo, called 'Poised for action':
That hare last night was amazing! I've had very close encounters, but not yet had one sniff me! Although they're timid, they're also extremely inquisitive!!

Hi MarJus
Fabulous and the close up is exquisite to see here
Love all spiders too
Well done to you
The only time I have ever been close up to a Hare was while on a trip to Rutland a couple of years ago - and this Hare was sitting at the road side. I think it had a brush with a car and was recovering - poor soul.
I will pass a wish that a Hare sniffs you and that photo will be the winning one
What is that on Packham's T-shirt tonight???
