If like me, you are completely blown away by the truly stunning wildlife of Madagascar, you'll be glued to your screens tonight watching MADAGASCAR - Island of Marvels on BBC Two. It's at 8pm and the first of three fantastic programmes, so enjoy!Claire
Wonderful programme, All of it. Highlights for me was the spider & the shell, plus the little lake dwelling lemurs & the efforts of the local people to conserve those lemurs that are so endangered. The music was unobtrusive & David is always a joy to listen to.They didn't say anything about the swifts in the cave though, perhaps they will in another episode.
Best wishes
Val.
Hi Val
I remember the spider and the shell - just the way the Spider coiled its web around the shell and branch to make a high rise flat for itself
Really industrious thing for such a small creature to do something for a nice home for itself.
I wondered about the swifts too and if they are unique to the island. Their colouration was a little more unusual than the ones we have in the UK.
Looking forward to part 2 next week
Regards
Kathy and Dave

Hi Aiki
What a fabulous photos of a bird which we know in a different sense of the word in the UK - all black and speckly LOL. Looks far so removed from a Starling. I am sure that Sprrowhawks in the UK would find this bird without a second thought.
Sorry, cannot help with the name of the place but an interesting observation to the unique species in Bali, Indonesia

This is the place where it took the photo
Its near Sandwich in Kent

That tiny creature who has all those babies got me too. How on earth does she keep track of up to 30!
I am looking forward to next weeks programme as well.
All programmes David narrates are excellent & this one is brilliant, long may he do them.
It just shows that being little does not make an animal less productive
The smaller beasties of this world have their hands full too LOL
I love Sir David and have to upmost respect for the man and want him to carry on forever (if only)

Might be of interest to read that these birds are in a breeding program at London zoo.
