Listing Birds on TV

Bill OddIe, in one of his books in the 1980's, whilst discussing Bird Lists and listing, mentioned that he kept a list of birds he'd seen on TV

I think this could be a rewarding thing for anyone who is house bound ....

As I remember the rules .....

  • The birds have to be alive ;)
  • The birds have to be wild ;)
  • The birds have to be NOT Mentioned In any commentary or soundtrack

Thus a sparrow in the square on  EastEnders would be acceptable whereas a Golden Eagle shown on a documentary would not be unless it was not mentioned by the presenter.

This is also a valid way to learn ID for those beginning the hobby (and those who have been birding for years), as if required you can record the program

Best regards
Nigel
