    hi Sarah

    I loved the programme for its content and love of nature.

    It was a well written programme and very educational as all this series has been in the past.

    The Otters where beautiful as always.  The kingfisher video was beautiful to look at and it hard to believe that their speed is a slow 10mph into the water hunting for fish - stunning birds.

    The Dipper was a treat especially when its calls was heard above the noisy water

    I did have mixed feelings about the problem Mink living close to the couples house.  Charlie was  lucky to catch the mink and it was shown in the programme.  It is an animal that does not belong in the UK and it was people who introduced it when it felt right at the time.  I do feel some compassion for the species though at the same time.

    The Water Voles, Chickens, Ducks etc.. where all at risk from the mink so action had to be taken about the animals.  The mink had got one duck already and it would only be a matter of time before the raids of the animals houses would only continue.

    Anyway please watch the programme as it is very enjoyable indeed {big smile}

    Regards

    Hi Kathy

    I also had mixed feelings about the mink. However, they both must have known that if they caught it they wouldn't be able to release it into the wild as it is illegal to release any non-native species into the wild. If they didn't want to address the problem then they had the alternative choice to ignore it, but once they trapped it, it's fate was sealed.

    In the original series there was an awful scene where Charlie was filming a kingfisher, and a mink just popped up from behind it and ate it. It was quite distressing. It's possible that it could even have been the same mink as the film shots aren't necessarily shown in a chronological order.

    I saw a TV programme where RSPCA inspectors had to rescue a Canada goose because it had a fishing hook and line around it's leg. They tried their best to fix it at the waterside but had to remove it to a Veterinary surgeon. They knew that as soon as they took it from the river, it could never be released again. It might be a shame but that's the law.

    Best wishes Chris
