Has anyone else noticed how the birds disappear on the day you do your count? This time we were asked for chicks. Well Mrs Blackbird arrived the following day with her four fledglings. The blue tits came home with their three babies, the coal tit put in an appearance two days later after being in everyday for a month prior to the watch!
However, I had my first ever baby goldfinch. They weren't counted separately. Neither were the starling and sparrow families. And that, basically, was my list. 11 starlings, 9 sparrows, 1goldfinch, 1 G.tit and a wood pigeon.Nearly all the starlings and sparrows were youngsters so I feel optimistic about them again.
Off on a course tomorrow so must go to bed. There aren't enough hours to read all the posts! Goodnight all
