I managed to watch the whole first progamme this evening, which is very unusual for me.
I enjoyed it overall and will try to see it as much as possible this series. I loved watching the bluetits bringing mint to the nest, fascinating stuff. I will have to watch my bluetits more closely!
The hobby was just stunning, I bet they HAVE obtained footage, using the slow motion camera, of the moment a hobby captures a dragonfly, so will have to tune in for that.
I am also looking forward to developments in the dragonfly tank. I only get damselflies in my small pond and have always missed them emerging from their larvae cases.
Also enjoyed the water voles, amazing film of the two Bitterns, the brief glimpse of two otters, the beautiful avocet, etc, etc.
What did everyone else enjoy ?
Kind regards Jane.
Oh drat, I completely forgot it was on today. Will have to catch it on iplayer

I agree It was a good first show.I enjoyed seeing the Avocets It will be good to watch how they get on over the next three weeks.I especially liked the flying Bitterns filmed In Somerset where I live so that was a nice bonus,I have only ever heard them make the booming noise.

There is absolutely no way I would have lasted the whole hour with Springwatch, if I had the opportunity to see that!
All that was happening in my garden and surrounding area were a couple of blackbirds and one or two siskins and goldfinch. (No offence to these lovely birds but I see them every day). I have never seen a nightjar, was it displaying near your home or did you make a special journey, knowing where you were likely to see it?
Any photos, she asks hopefully :-)
