Well, Springwatch starts again on Monday. I for one am looking forward to it although it has never been the same without Bill Oddie. I have a lovely personal memory of Bill. He was speaking at an event at the NEC in Birmingham and then was signing copies of his new bird book. It was lovely to meet him face to face. He was very shy but charming.
I live just up the road from Martin Mere WWT and I love it when the programme comes from there - so many familiar sights. I hope it returns there before too long.

Duh back! But a very fortunate piece of luck for us that the Autumnwatch messageboard was so boring - not a patch on ours!! At least we've managed to keep you!

I second that - the Autumn Watch board wasn't good, and that is the very reason that I'm here. Someone on there mentioned this forum so I took a look, joined, and scrubbed the AW one. I've never looked back!

Oooohhh dear. Springwatch Photo Club. Kate (chicken) Humble has just said " Oh I'm a woman. I take really bad photos." or words to that effect. I'm very cross and disappointed.
What do you say girls? (and guys too, of course)

Only thing is I wish I could take a photo as half as good as my wife . She is amasing with a camera.
The young lass on the program tonight was something else her work was fantastic.

A good picture is a good picture no matter who takes it.
The thing that makes you laugh that they had just been talking to a 19year girl about her wonderful photograph.
One other thing is they say the red button on freeview and sky but you can also get it on Virgin cable.

I am glad I didn't see Kate Humble say that. No doubt she would say it was in jest,, but I dont want to see self deprecating females on TV anymore (yawn). To be honest, the style of presenting reminds me of a 1970's family sitcom where the token woman never gets any funny lines but is just there to be a feed for the men and make them look good. KH appears to be happy with that role. I do feel that for the money she is paid, it is about time she did a bit of research so she can actually answer some questions. That does not mean I think the other presenters are wonderful either.
I can't be doing with all this adoration of 'celebrities'.
Sorry, this has nothing to do with wildlife, except, why do we have to have so many presenters? I would be much happier with the whole hour showing the wildlife activity, and an unseen expert giving extra descriptions and facts etc. as required.
I will probably be in a minority of one about this :-)

Well Jef, I think this topic has gone full circle and proved your original point.
I'm still going to watch Springwatch cos I love the wildlife bits and I always enjoy Simon King's enthusiastic input ( he was so sweet when some cygnets were peeping out from under their mum's wing - he was genuinely enchanted)
As for the rest of them....bring back Johnny Morris I say!!!
