BBC Springwatch

Well, Springwatch starts again on Monday. I for one am looking forward to it although it has never been the same without Bill Oddie. I have a lovely personal memory of Bill. He was speaking at an event at the NEC in Birmingham and then was signing copies of his new bird book. It was lovely to meet him face to face. He was very shy but charming.

I live just up the road from Martin Mere WWT and I love it when the programme comes from there - so many familiar sights. I hope it returns there before too long.

Just remembered the Bustards - they are posers and love to show off.  Very attractive birds indeed and it is good that they have been reintroduced as they should be.  Let them prosper in numbers once more.

Yes, the story about the Avocets is very interesting indeed, and they deserve to be the Logo for the RSPB.

    • John you are a dark horse - tell us more!!!!!  Have you mentioned your Owl shot on another thread on the RSPB?

  • well I'm really enjoying springwatch this year too!!! am a great lover of otters so I'm also enjoying Halcyon River diaries, but I did really like the little blue tits - am trying hard not to think about hte last one!!!

the photo gallery on the red btton was good too although I did feel a bit sorry for the photgrapher  when chris started to criticise the photos' and talking about photo shop. I think simon did a good job explaining that one!!!!

It still seems a bit strange not to have Bill Oddie , I know he missed it cos of his depression last year so I'm hoping he's feeling better this but is trying to keep his commitments down. Suffering from it myself I know it can make you seem grumpy or unapproacheable. At least he has a hobby he can lose himself in.

But great job Chris kate and Simon.

I didn't get to be stupid by being blonde, I was stupid enough to pay to be blonde!!!

  • I've been watching too this year and am enjoying it very much.  Don't know why I've never bothered before.

Naturally I thought the bats were great and as the bustards are close to where I live I was pleased that they were shown.  Seymour - what a brilliant desciption of them!

We recorded the programme so we missed the red button bit and oh no!  I missed HH being a star :-(

There is something new to learn everyday...

Its has been a great series so far, Thanks Blackbird! I did not mention it on here because I was unsure how they would use it! :-) Any way here we go. To anyone who is interested of of my Owlet shots is on the Springwatch red button, among many others!

    John :-)

For viewing or photography right place right time is everything. I'd rather be in the right place with poor kit than have the best kit and be in the wrong place.

  • Hi John,

I missed your photo but congratulations on getting on the show :o)

I'm missing out on the pressing the red button bit of the show as I'm having to watchg in on BBC iPlayer the next day  because of work, next week will be the same.  You'll all have to keep me updated on what I'm missing :o)

  • PaulE you don't have to miss out on the red button, they run it all the time. Just press the red button and select Springwatch at any time of day.

All I ask is the chance to prove that money can't make me happy.
