I'm so excited - not only are the reed warblers back again here by the Avon in Worcestershire, but I SAW one today - first time ever! Hope my squeals of delight didn't frighten it off....
Lucem Video
Great news, they really make the bank side come alive. I haven't got any good views of reed warblers yet this year but good to hear them back in many of their regular haunts.
My first sedge warbler of the year on the 24th gave quite a good show, not where i expected to find one either (hawthorn hedge sandwiched between a path, road and housing estate in my Breeding Bird Survey square!) One of those 'wish i had my camera with me' moments!
Early May is a great time to get out and about along rivers and lakes in order to hear the reed and sedge warblers in full song. Our reserves at Otmoor, Ham Wall and Newport Wetlands might be within reach for day trips from Worcestershire if you are interested!
Warden Intern at Otmoor.
Reed Warblers and Sedge Warblers have both been seen in Berkshire this year too at Dinton Pastures
Best wishes Chris

I hesitate to mention this Chris but your first photo is a reed bunting. Is that what you intended to post given the subject?LOL
