Nest Building for big boys and girls:

Hi all,

We went to Warburg Nature Reserve (B,B & O) primarily to take photos of Red Kites and Buzzards.

I took plenty of photos but although these aren't especially good they show the nest buidling behaviour of a Red Kite who found something that he or she decided to pick up and take with him or her:

What's this I've found:

Yes I've got it:

It's a bit heavy:

Oops I mustn't drop it:

Yes it's still there:

Here is a tagged Red Kite that I took quite a few pictures of:

    Hi BBB

My problem probably stems from the fact that about a year ago I had a badly torn retina in my right eye, and it had to be laser stitch repaired. Ever since then I have been able to see lot's of black flecks or 'floaters' in that eye, and as it's my dominant eye, that might be why I can't seem to pick out birds in trees from amongst all of the black flecks.

When I get some decent binoculars I'm hoping I might be able to spot them.

    Best wishes Chris

OOhh that sounds nasty, that must drive you potty, well I have no excuse, just lack of practise and binoculars I suppose.

  • Hi Micky

I wasn't implying that. I know that I'm older than you, so I'm definitely to old to be 'down with the kids'.

Next weekend I'll be another year older than you. Depression is setting in already.

    Hey Ho

Is someone trying to imply that I'm too old to be down with the kids here?

OK, I admit it. I am too old to be down with the kids!  It's not Zack de la Rocha, It's the one and only Robert Nesta Marley O.M.

    MC:-)

Lol, I nearly fell over when I read that, I'm amazed you know who he is Zack de la Rocha I mean ( or did you google him ). I really didn't reconize him as being Bob Marley, excellent choice.

So my friend, I wish that you could see..

  • OH I ought to be careful what I say then, your not that much older than me, I keep forgeting I'm getting older too, I still don't feel grown up yet, when does that happen. I forget too the older generation these days probably grew up with punk, and are not so much into Max Bygraves and a glass of sherry.

    Hi Woodpecker

Fabulous pictures of the Red Kite.

Love your way you have placed them as a sequence of events happening with the same bird.

    Regards

    Kathy and Dave

  • Hi Kathy :-)

Thanks for your kind comments. I did start off with more in the sequence, but some positions looked a bit strange. I had just struggled up quite a steep track and this happened at the bottom of the hill. I wish I had just stood there and he or she would have been coming towards me. Stuggling up the hill also made one fly off that was perched in a tree. Still those are the breaks...
