Common Terns are back too. Fantastic to watch them dive.
Huge raft of common scoter over 1000 I would have thought!

and the sight of the day has to be the female Sparrow Hawk take a Squirrel right in front of me as I walked back up through the park. Never seen that happen before. I was gobsmacked!!!

Fantastic day out, and thanks for sharing it with us.
You've made me worry now about our local sparrowhawk taking off with one of my tortoises. I persuaded myself they are too heavy, but now I'm not so sure!
Cheers, Linda.
See my photos on Flickr
I need to get a new Camera Mine has given up the ghost on me.
Sparrow Im sure your tortoises will be fine lass .
Another good day fro you AL!
Glad spring is getting up to you. I thought winter had come back here this morning. There was quite a good frost at 6.30 when I let the chickens out!! Makes me feel sorry for the birds.I bet they are more than ready for the elements to give them a hand for a change!

Why is there never enough time?
Wow! What a list! Lucky you to see all those super birds and fancy a sparrowhawk taking a squirrel. Who'd have thought they would do that?
I'm so pleased that spring has come your way at last :-)
Best wishes

Thanks folks
Aye it was a great day I was well chuffed. As for the Sparrowhawk I thought they only went for birds . Seen one take a pigeon out the back of my house one time . But never thought they would go for a full grown squirrel.
It was so amasing and something I will remember for a long time.
Great list of birds
Well worth the trip.
Great to see photos as they just make your report all the better to connect with
Regards
Kathy and Dave
