What a Day!

I realise this may be a bit of a cheek on an RSPB forum but thought I would risk it.

This week I ventured out to the WWT in Barnes and was rewarded with not only my first viewing of Great Crested Grebes and their mating ritual but also witnessing a right old barney between two Moorhens. On top of that there were a couple of first broods of Moorhen chicks.

I also saw:

7 Redshank
3 Common Snipe
2 Little Grebes
Green Woodpecker
Little Ringed Plover
6 Sand Martins
Willow Warbler
female Blackcap
Only 3 Grey Herons
Greylags
Long-Tailed Ducks
Shovellers
Lots of Tufties
Lots of Canada Geese
Lots of children
Got one or two reasonable photos (not of the children).
Long queue for lunch but managed to get the last slice of carrot cake.

Here are some photos:

Talk about being in the right place at the right time! I was very lucky. What a fantastic day!

Best wishes, Graham
