Have spied quite a number of bees in the garden some quite large so guess these are bumble bees, but not sure, there seems to be more this year anyone else agree, or have I just not noticed.

Hi Linda
I was watching One Show on TV the other night and it stated if you see any large Bumble Bees around now they will be the pregnant Queens lookin around for a new nesting area for a colony of Bees.
So they are looking for a new home.
Yes saw a large Bee on a recent Sunday walk to Castlemill Sluice, Bedford
Regards
Kathy and Dave

I was out gardening on Sunday in the company of two largr bumble bees. I was a bit surprised as it seems a bit early after the cold winter we've had. Interesting to know they could be queens. We could have families of them later. Going to have a look for advice on suitable bumble bee nest boxes.
No, I do not think that you have not noticed .I too have seen more about this year and some I had not seen before.I joined the Bee presevation society this year .you can learn a lot more about them there.
crazy Nana
Earlier in the year I left several mounds of moss raked from the lawn.on a patch of bare earth in my back garden. When I started to remove two of them last week I found they contained active bumblebee nests, complete with gold coloured cases.Several bumblebees left the nests and flew around but were not aggresive.I quickly covered the nests with more moss and left them in peace.
