My daffs are finally sprouting up (a month later than last year) and I'm seeing plenty of midges and other flying beasty things in the garden, so at least something survived hibernation.
Oh, and 2 robins trying to get intimate on my garden fence and falling off. (the fence, not each other)
I even love magpies

hi Johnny
Yes, Scotland a place close to my hear expect for the past 3 years.
Yow!!! Those midges are is the worst when they get going, and they get into all the places you would not even dream about LOL
I remember going to Gairloch, West Coast in the middle of the year {a few years ago} and we have to dive back in the car after seeing a black sheet of midges chasing us from afar. It was grim!
It is good to see Robins being romantic instead of sizing each other up over the fence, It is hard to tell which sex is which though - wonder if the female Robins are just as territorial as the males?

Previously, never been able to work out robin genders, but for the past month I noticed 3 in the garden at one time, but only two of them fighting. Assuming the non- combatant robin was the female, i can safely say that if a robin looks bored, unimpressed, and slightly impatient- its a female!!!
Daffodils finally arrived here in Norfolk on the 24th

Daffodils fully grown but just starting to see the yellow breaking through. All our birds are running around gathering bits of nesting materials and chasing each other

Daffs out here too and have been for the past week. I have also spotted ladybirds in amongst a hedge we have in the back and spotted a butterfly today which I think I disturbed when doing a bit of weeding. Couldn't say what it was though.
