Frisky Toads

Quite a miserable day weather wise, but I still had a walk around Portrack Marsh for an hour or so!

Nothing really to report bird wise, very few birds about!

A couple of Tufted Ducks, Mallard a Little Grebe and Black-headed Gulls on the main pool.

A pair of Greylag Geese, Coot and some Teal on the smaller pool, the usual Finches and Tit species present.

On the river a few Redshank feeding along the banks as it was low tide.

I did take a few photo's on my phone of mating Toads.

I also saw a couple a male toads sat on the main path, I can only presume they were attempting to warm up.

It was bitterly cold, grey and miserable. So they had no chance of that!

Anyway spotting these guys made my morning.

Regards Buzzard

  • Thanks Buzzard .... more porn on the forum!!!

You even manage to take good photos with your phone. You don't need a camera.  I've had my mobile over 12 years and still can't access the address book!

    Cheers, Linda.

    Hi Buzzard & Sparrow

Yes Buzzard, Sparrow is correct, you take good pics even with a phone.

I can't work out what to do to save them and even if a fluke happens and some are saved, I've never been able to download them onto my PC

    Best wishes Chris

Hi Chris, don't know what phone you have and wether it has a memory card!

If your phone has a memory card you can save any photo on your phone to that, all I then do is put the card into a multi card reader and upload them onto the PC.

If your phone doesn't have a memory card, you can still upload any photo's on it by using the software and a USB cable that should have come with the phone.

  • Nice one Buzzard! Lovely to see toads! Such sweet little critters and by far a better sight than mine this morning!! I unfortunately counted 19 squashed toads along a very short stretch of road... going to report it to the local wildlife trust although not sure much can be done....

  • More frisky toads, this time in Sussex.

We found this pond alive with mating frogs and toads. It was exactly one week later than last year, probably because of the seemingly endless winter!

    An egret changed my life!
