In the last couple of years one of my favourite shrubs, the forsythia, has started to flower well before March, this year so far the three shrubs i have around the garden are budding furiously but no sign of the bright yellow blooms just yet. The local sparrows usually announce the arrival of the blooms as they seem fond of the yellow petals and noisily peck at them.
Anyone seeing yellow yet? When they do burst into colour i'll try and get a picture up but i'm guessing it will be a good two to three weeks before they are at their best this year.

When I'm not watching birds I'm also a flower arranger. Last week I went to a demonstration done by a lady from Paignton I think. Anyway, she did a flower arrangement containing bright yellow Forsythia from her garden. Hopefully yours shouldn't be long :-)

Ah, that makes sense, being in middle England we usually lag a few weeks behind the south west, not long to wait for us then! Thanks for that!
It would be interesting to see if anyone from west Wales or North of the Humber has got any fosythia ready to burst into flower?

No flowers on my Forsythia as yet, in fact they have only the tiniest of buds so a while to go yet. I am in Lancashire.
I'm always look forward to seeing the wonderful green of the leaf buds coming into life you don't see any other time of year and the first swallow around the 15th April. Spring, Spring Spring.

Mine are still in bud too. Saw some in a friend's garden yesterday but we decided that it must be winter jasmine as it seemed too early for Forsythia. Not sure of the difference really. Will have to check.
