Even though winter continues to drag it's heels, leaving us wondering how any of our tiniest birds are able to survive, at least this little wren has found itself a tasty meal!
Has anyone else glimpsed any early birds catching any worms, caterpillas, etc, etc......?
She's lovley and they are difficult to photo they move so quickly We have a little wren who has been picking around the tree roots lately but I haven't seen them actually catch anything.

Great shot of a very fast bird.
My little wren is always in the flower beds, not see him get anything, but I think its a plus just seeing him.

I rarely see mine.
Edit: 6pm. I have just spotted mine in the tree. It is dark and all other birds have gone to bed. He was pecking at the bark. Is it normal for a bird to be out after dark?

Great shots Mrs T! I'd have thought it would be too cold for the Wren to be catching caterpillars.
Sparrow, I've noticed the odd bird here who appears after dark, usually the Blackbirds - who are relentless in their after dark noise!

Lovely photos Mrs T. It is strange that, despite the weather, butterflies, bees and now caterpillars are being sighted. I've not seen a wren here but I can't see a lot of my back garden without going outside to it, which I try not to do too much when the weather is bad as my doing so will interrupt the birds at my feeder tables.
The necessity of bird-watching is a really good reason for avoiding all forms of housework.
The dust will still be there tomorrow - the birds may not be!
Great pics, I have only seen one wren in my garden this year and it was scuttling around behind the beech hedge by the fence and it vanished too quickly. I think it nests next door in the lleylandi. No bugs so far in the garden but I am going outside later to start the spring tidy so I will be keeping my eyes open. I was hit on the side of the face yesterday by some flying insect when I was on a walk so they are up and about.
I'm always look forward to seeing the wonderful green of the leaf buds coming into life you don't see any other time of year and the first swallow around the 15th April. Spring, Spring Spring.
