GOLDIE PIC

Hiya All

Thought you might like to see 2 of my goldfinches feeding today.  There was about 12 but as soon as I got anywhere near with my camera the rest buzzed off and sat and watched me from the trees. I waited for ages but they would not return in numbers - awkward little devils!! I am sure they were laughing at me!

Do you think I could do a Seymouraves and ask what the bird in the botton left hand corner is?  Ha ha ha   only joking!!

Sorry the pictures isn't too good.  I had a little Kodak camera only 4 mp which took great pictures and then it died so I bought one with 12 mp and I can't seem to be able to take a decent photo at all - very hit and miss, but will keep trying.

    Sorry folks for the lack of replies from myself, but here I am the cows tail as always on this thread

    Sparrow, I am amazed how many birds that you have on your feeders in your pictures.  Do you sing for your birds so they appear...what is the trick of attracting so many at one time.  Soooo lucky lucky you {big smile}

    Love everyone's pictures all in all on this thread

    Must get a decent shot of my 2 Goldies, I have seen on the feeder at the back of the garden.

    SB: wonder what you BoP was that caused such a stir as they do... he/she might come back for another look in once more.

    Regards

    Hi Kathy,

    Do I sing to attract birds? They would all drop dead with shock. I was once hired by a pub to sing at closing time to get rid of the customers.

    Cheers, Linda.

  • WOW! Brilliant photos on this thread. Well done everyone.

    Hi Kezmo [wave] you are not alone in the absentee Goldie department but I made up for it by going to one of my local reserves on Sunday where I saw Goldies by the shed-load! Maybe when they learn to fly (LOL) they will navigate themselves in the direction of my garden - which is some 6 miles away as the crow flies and so should be the same distance for the Goldies.....???

    The necessity of bird-watching is a really good reason for avoiding all forms of housework.

    The dust will still be there tomorrow - the birds may not be!

  • Very funny Sparrow!  I'm sure your singing isn't that bad.

    If I stand outside and sing to the birds the starlings might start serenading the neighbourhood with snatches of Mozart and Verdi.  That would be interesting.  I might just try it.  Lol!

    There is something new to learn everyday...

  • Hi Squirrel [wave back] - LOL squirrel, there's hope for you then!  Me, just wishful thinking.  I have come to the conclusion I can only sit and watch everyone else's photos of Goldfinches........superb as they are :-)

  • Hi SB and Sparrow

    Thank you for being generous, I'm not proud I will take charity!!!

    SB what a rumpas in your garden, wonder what it was that caused the fuss.

    It's funny you mention nasal hairs as a couple of these showed up on the sunflower feeder  so I'm hoping the Goldfinch that lost them will turn up soon to collect them!!

    hi Squirrel

    Yes, it is strange that Goldies are hiding from your garden.  After my long walk on Sunday and Monday there was was more tinkling goldie songs than anything else put together.

    Some Goldie sign posts sound a great idea LOL

    Hi SB

    Wow the power of a strong bit of classical music might just do the trick.  I stood outside early this morning singing with the male Blackbird sitting on my house roof last night and he was a whole lot better than me LOL.

    Kezmo: Time for a wave from here too {HELLLLOOO}

    Hope that the Goldies make haste and find their way to you too.

    Regards

  • Great pics from everyone here! I have some that come daily but not sure of the amount, but it has to be a good dozen! Will have to try for a pic!! :-)
