Hi Everyone, I am interested in purchasing my first DSLR and am very interested in the Nikon D5000 which comes with a 18-55 mm lens. I have heard from various reviews that it is quite simple to use for a beginner (which is what I am) and everything sounds great. The only thing that I am completely in the dark about is battery power. I know that it doesn`t take ordinary rechargeable AA batteries, but I would like to know what type of battery it does take, whether one comes with the camera and how do you go about charging it. I am not sure if I would need a separate expensive charger, which could be difficult for me as I do not work due to ill-heath. If somebody could help me I would be really grateful.
Regards, EmmaC
Hi EmmaC,
If you purchase the full Nikon D5000 kit, the box contains the following.
Hope this helps Regards Buzzard
Nature Is Amazing - Let Us Keep It That Way
Hi EmmaC
I can't tell you anything about this particular model but I can tell you that it will be supplied with a battery (probably lithium) and it will come with a charger. Most people buy a spare battery - usually quite expensive- because it inevitably runs out just when you want to take that special shot.
Have a look at the review on the Digital Camera Labs website. This will probably tell you all about it.

Hope this helps.

Hello EmmaC,
I purchased one of these on Boxing day, I had been looking for a DSLR for a little while and saw excellent reviews for this one, I know its won plenty of awards for its size and capabilities.
Unfortunately due to college homework I've not been able to get out over Xmas and give it a good workout, but hopefully this weekend I can.
I got mine from jessops after seeing this deal...
Its a two lens kit, the bag is not up to much, but I already have a decent one.

I know its not the cheapest kit, but it does everything I want.
Did you know about the £50 cash back voucher from Nikon..?
