If this isn’t strange I don’t know what is
I took a chickweed seedling out and put it in my insect shelter it Barely has any soil underneath only some on the right away from it and the chickweed seedling grew and flowered
Iv moved the sticks and stuff off the seedlings roots and they are definitely clever. It did in fact root itself with little to no soil at all but the shelter was mainly half closed for most of the winter until I put the seedling in but I still didn’t really open it to expose much light after that for the rest of the winter. Believe it or not there was also a worm in there but here’s the seedling
This is the roots
Its is cloudy and the flowers have closed though I don’t know if it’s in response to that I left the lid open to let some sunlight in yesterday before putting it half closed and leaving it like that cause the weather went cloudy
It is on the photo though
here we go
Iv circled the roots. And the chickweed is tightly attached to the ground of the shelter I don’t want to take it out and I’m not going to but I tested to see if it’s loose but it’s not so the roots are tightly attached so it has rooted itself it holds on to the ground of the shelter rather than comes up if you were to pull it up its just like pulling a seedling out of the ground the plant itself won’t budge and if you were to pull it the roots would be resist and stay flat on the ground
Do you think the stuff I put ontop of the roots helped it to root itself? Maybe it used the Preassure from the logs to root itself and flower without soil
