Some of the Red Kite photos were taken from distance and I was lucky on some when they came a little nearer.

  • Thanks very much SnappyMac glad you liked them
  • What I know about sheep is a lot less than others know about sheep.

It could be a two-horned variant of Jacobs sheep, but Jacobs normally come in bi-colour (spotty) fleeces. It ain't a leicester, a large breed with a 'roman' nose and prominent ears (and if I remember correctly rams and ewes are both 'polled', i.e. hornless). It ain't a swaledale (I've seen a lot of 'em on the moors). It ain't the Swiss sheep breed with a pretty curly fleece (the name of the breed escapes me at this time).

You see, I don't know that much about sheep breeds.

The ear-tag/ear-ring stuff comes from a very basic understanding of livestock and related regulations. Which ultimately relates to very basic disease control and control of transmission of disease within livestock.
  • I believe them to be Hebridean sheep following the sheep that I saw and the nearest thing I could find on the internet.
If this ID is wrong I stand to be corrected.
