Help with the Pixlr application please

Hi,  i was trying to improve this pic using the Pilxr application. i would like to sharpen the kestrel as much as it would be possible, getting the bird mucho more focused, so if anyone was skilled with the aforementioned application please let me know the way to do it. Thanks in advance

  • Bob, if you do that using the RAW file instead of file i put on this thread, the final result is much more better ?

  • It's not clear what you're trying to do here David. Are you wishing to crop the image (so it loses most of the background and making the bird larger in the frame, as Sunnykate showed) or sharpen it up (as Bob demonstrated)? Using a RAW file as the starting point will always give better results than messing around with a low res jpeg, but there are also limits - the more you sharpen, the more nasty, noisy artefacts will appear and what's acceptable is subjective (ie you'll likely have to sit in front of Pixlr and alter the de-noise & sharpening settings until you're happy, using the device you're going to view it on (larger screens show up blemishes more than a phone screen)).
Ultimately, if an image is out of focus, you cannot rescue it completely (more's the pity!)

  • Thanks Joe, apologies for not have been clear enough, as you say i was trying to sharpen it up as the picture seems worthwhile to improve getting more focused the bird but i m afraid it is impossible to achieve completely it as you have explained in such a kindly way. Thanks for your very useful clarification.
