I seem to be getting more & more photographs of local birds so thought I'd share a few. Let's start off with a flock of Waxwings from a few weeks back (first ones I've seen).
They usually go up to roost at night so good captures with blue sky, they must have felt weary:-) They do look funny being a pretty hefty bird perched up there.
Lot to learn
Here's a couple of skylarks that were -as usual- at dizzying eights when photographed.
A few pictures from over the Bank Holiday weekend after a visit to Washington Wildfowl Park.
You'll have to excuse the centre photograph in the last image as I quickly Photoshopped it so my 8 year old daughter could show her friends!!
(However the Shelduck was *actually* standing like that).

Massively cropped.
Great Tit.
The Great Tits are lovely but the Red Kites are beautiful Michael, well caught.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Michael, I'm not sure I would agree that Red Kites are one of Britain's rarest birds. Since reintroduction in many locations they can be quite common but sometimes localised and slow to spread. I live in the Thames Valley not far from the Chiltern's reintroduction and they are absolutely everywhere. In fact I regard them almost as garden birds flying over my house on a daily basis. However, I would agree that they are one of Britain's most spectacular birds and I don't tire of seeing them with their wonderful aeronautical skills..
Nice shots and I hope you see many more of them as they seem to be thriving in most places except where persecution still exists.
