Firstly, can anyone confirm that this infact a yellow wagtail please?
It's a grey wagtail - confusing I know as they have a yellow rump but the way to tell the difference is that grey wagtails have a grey back whereas yellow wagtails have a yellowish coloured back.

Hi m3lod,
welcome to the forum.
The bird in your photo is a Grey Wagtail, not a Yellow Wagtail as It is a summer visitor, migrating to winter in Africa.
Hope this helps Regards Buzzard

My father thought it was a yellow wag tail. treading water in our garden thats all. glad i know what it is now x
Hi m3lod - I always used to get these birds confused but spent a spring in Glyn Ceriog where the Yellow Wagtails were all nesting under a bridge and since then no confusion - they are so yellow (like a canary) whereas the Grey Wagtail is Grey with splashes of yellow - both lovely birds to see though.
