I heard my first chiffchaff a few days ago but couldn't see it. Today I went out to my local reserve to try to track it down. There were several singing and eventually I managed to find one who posed for me albeit high up in the tree.
Must make myself look good for the ladies.
That should do it. C'mon girls where are you.
Who is that guy pointing that big lens at me - I'm outa here.
You really know that Spring has arrived when you hear that familiar call.

I just LOVE the preening picture, so cuuute! Nice captures, I've never seen Chiffchaffs up close. The familiar spring call for me is the Mistle Thrush although I heard it quite a bit during Winter this year too.. (or at least I think it was Winter, sure felt like it....)
I love Columbidae.
Wow, what beautiful shots. I've never seen one before either. Very handsome chap.

I've learned that I still have a lot to learn...

I'm green with envy on three counts. Firstly, you have seen a chiffchaff, secondly you took some beautiful photos of him, and thirdly you have blue sky and sunshine. The latter is very lacking up here at present.
I love the last picture especially. It reminds me so much of how I see birds through my view finder but never press the button in time! Serously TJ, they are lovely photos.
Cheers, Linda.

well done T.J .WOT LOVELY PHOTOS.
Beautiful pics Teejay. He looks quite rested considering he has flown from Africa. With all this talk of climate change, I got my first Chiffchaff yesterday which is exactly the same week I saw one last year.
There are 9000 species of bird on earth. Let's keep it that way.
Hi TJ
Great photos, I heard my first of the year today at Weirwood but everytime I went looking for it, it disapeared into the copse across the road, I would love to get some photos half as good as yours when I eventually get the chance. :o)

Thanks TJ. They are really lovely photographs. We had a beautiful day here as well but that didn't include our spotting a chiffchaff !!
Thanks guys and gals, glad you liked the photos. There were several chiffchaffs around but they were very elusive and kept disappearing into dense trees. I was quite lucky that this little chap finally decided to perch in the open. It was a beautiful warm and mostly sunny day so I didn't mind hanging around. Looking forward to more warblers turning up soon.
Wow, great photos. None of the Chiffies I've seen so far this year have been very keen to be photographed, but this one is posing absolutely beautifully :)
